The 6th Graders are Dramatic
Ms. Quinn's literature classes and Ms. Clover's social studies classes have been studying Greek culture and myths. One of the activities that the students participated in during this cross-curricular unit was to write, prepare, and perform plays incorporating Greek mythology. To begin with, Mr. Bristow introduced the history of Greek theater to the students. Then in groups, the students wrote scripts for short plays about the myth of their choice. After preparing sets, costumes, props, and puppets, the students performed their plays for the entire grade. Some students chose to use puppets to tell their stories. Others chose to act out their plays. The plays were a very entertaining way to study Greek culture, theater, and working in cooperative groups. There were a variety of approaches to script writing and performance methods. All in all, it showed the great creativity and drama skills of the 6th grade classes.
