The 8th grade class has been exploring a unit on Anne Frank. As part of this unit, the students created an art project in response to Anne's story. Students chose from a number of options. In total, there were 24 Hanukkah meals prepared and served, 6 collages, 3 movie posters, 3 Secret Annex blueprints, 2 videos, as well as others that created a costume design, a poem composition, a charcoal sketch, and a musical composition.
During this unit, the students have read the play "The Diary of Anne Frank." They read and discussed in a forum a novel set during World War II. They researched Holocaust topics and presented to the class. Students have read several related stories and nonfiction pieces and will complete the unit by watching an Anne Frank movie. Students have explored history, character, and the consequences of intolerance and injustice throughout this unit.
